Scouts BSA offers one of the most rewarding youth experiences available. Scouts build real leadership skills, earn merit badges, go on incredible adventures, and work toward the Eagle Scout rank — a distinction recognized for life. We’d love to have you join our troop.

Who Can Join?

Scouts BSA is open to young men and women ages 11–17 (or who have completed fifth grade and earned the Arrow of Light). No prior scouting experience required.

How to Join

  1. Come to a meeting — Attend a troop meeting as a guest. Meet our scouts and leaders and see the patrol method in action.
  2. Register online — Visit scouting.org/join to register and pay dues through Scouting America’s national system.
  3. Get your uniform — We’ll point you in the right direction. The Scout Shop and online retailers carry everything you need.
  4. Join a patrol and get started — You’ll be placed in a patrol of peers and begin working toward your first rank right away.
